Simple protein and nutrition boost at home

If someone has a poor appetite or unintentional weight loss, soup can be a great option to get the nutrition you need. By adding a few simple ingredients, it can become far more calorie and protein‑dense without increasing portion size.

Ingredients

120g fresh pasta

120ml tomato pasta sauce 

AYMES Shake Powder or AYMES ActaSolve Savoury

Grated cheedar cheese

 

Recipe

Cook pasta

Use a pan to cook the quantity of pasta you want.

Add sauce

Add the tomato-based sauce to the pasta and mix it. Make sure your pasta is well coated.

Add supplement

Add your AYMES Shake Powder to the pasta. Stir to mix it well.

Heat

Keep stirring to heat the pasta, sauce and supplement together until it is warm through. Make sure it does not boil.

Serve

Once the pasta is ready, serve it in a bowl.

Add toppings

Add any topping you like to the pasta. We recommend grated cheese.

Alternative: savoury taste

If you want to change the taste, use a savoury taste supplement instead.

Caryn Straker

Caryn studied for a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, qualifying in 1997. She has worked as a dietitian in both South Africa and the UK since 2000, gaining experience in hospitals, the community and private practice. Since 2013, she has focused her practice in care homes, using her expertise to enhance the well-being of residents. Here she supports placements for dietetic students from London Metropolitan University as well as regularly lecturing at University Collage London on both care home nutrition and nutrition in palliative care.
