Open-fit hearing aids

Here are some names of important parts of an open fit hearing aid

Open fit hearing aids should be cleaned weekly

01
Detach the tube from the hearing aid
02
Twist or pull off the dome from the end of the tube
03
Insert the cleaning wire into the tube from the hearing aid side towards the dome end
04
When the wire peaks out the other end, use a wet wipe to pull it through and out
05
Reassemble the device by attaching the dome and reconnecting the tube to the hearing aid

Standard mould hearing aids

Here are some names of important parts of a standard mould hearing aid

Standard mould hearing aids should be cleaned monthly

01
Remove the ear mould (with the tube attached) from the hearing aid
02
Wash the mould using a small amount of soapy water and an old toothbrush
03
Dry thoroughly with a clean tissue
04
Use a puffer to blow out any excess water from the tube and mould
05
Place the puffer at the end of the tube and squeeze gently
06
Reassemble the device by reattaching the ear mould to the hearing aid

Important note: Wipe the dome or mould with a wet wipe each night, then store the hearing aid in a clearly labelled box kept in a consistent place
