South London and Southern Counties

25 Feb 2025

25th February 2025

Nightingale Hammerson, together with Jewish Care, were delighted to host the South London and Southern Counties Forum at Nightingale House on the 25th February 2025.

The South London and Southern Counties Community Support Service, which is funded by both charities, provides a lifeline of support for community members with care needs in south London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Dorset. This joint service is led by Community Support Practitioner, Stephen Ison and Senior Community Social Worker and Community Outreach Co-ordinator, Jodie Sacks. Both have a wealth of knowledge and experience in navigating the health and social care systems.

Members of the community attended the forum, representing cross-communal synagogues from local communities and support organisations, and were able to hear updates on how both charities are supporting the Jewish community.

Nicky Goldman (CEO, Jewish Volunteering Network) covered important areas affecting the community south of the river Thames, including the challenges for recruitment and retention of volunteers.

As part of the event, community leaders shared opportunities and solutions to the problems they are facing with volunteering.

Our guests also had the opportunity to do tours of Nightingale House and see first hand the high quality care provided to the older Jewish community.

A huge thank you to our main speakers, Nicky Goldman of JVN, Rachel Rachel of Jewish Care and our Volunteer and Development Manager, Elie Levy. We also appreciate all attendees for their valuable contributions.
