Joanne Black, Co-chair, stepped down from her position with Nightingale Hammerson

5 Sep 2024

Dear All

I am writing to you to inform you that Joanne Black, my Co-chair, has sadly decided to step down from her position with Nightingale Hammerson.

Jo has been a highly regarded and valued member of our board, bringing a compassionate and dedicated approach to her role over the past 18 months. Many of you who have had the pleasure of working with her know how much she has contributed to our organisation.

In her parting message, Jo stated:

“After 18 months of helping to transform Hammerson House into the vibrant and dynamic home it is today and laying the groundwork for the refurbishment of Nightingale House, I have made the difficult decision to step down as Co-chair. My increased responsibilities at my company, including more frequent travel, and other personal commitments have made it necessary for me to reconsider my role at Nightingale Hammerson.

I am incredibly proud of all that we have achieved together. It has been an honour and a privilege to be part of such a wonderful community. The care we provide and the compassion and strength from our staff continues to inspire me.

Looking after the older people in our community is a privilege. Nightingale Hammerson takes its responsibility very seriously and with good values and care at the heart of the organisation.  It will go from strength to strength.”

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Jo who has made a tremendous impact during her time with us. She has been the driving force behind key strategic initiatives, including the reshaping of our Senior Leadership Team and the launch of our innovative Reach concept. Her energy, passion, and commitment will be greatly missed.

I am delighted that the Board of Trustees have met and have agreed that I will continue to lead the Charity taking on the role of Chairman. The search for a Vice Chair will commence shortly.

Nightingale Hammerson continues to be a beacon of best practice across the adult social care sector. On behalf of all the Trustees, thank you sincerely for your continuous support.

Wishing you and your family Chag Sameach.

Kindest regards,
