During the course of your duties at Nightingale Hammerson working within the care teams, activities team and on the floors, you will come into contact with confidential and potentially sensitive information.

It is important that you understand how to treat this information and the implications if you disclose any information to other parties. Personal information is heavily protected under the Data Protection Act and breaching this may lead to criminal or civil prosecution.

For the avoidance of doubt, any information that you come into contact with about residents, relatives, or any other service user, should not be disclosed other than to a recognised healthcare professional who requires the information in order to attend to the individual resident about whom you are disclosing the information, such as a Paramedic in attendance, or an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

If you are unsure about this, please speak to the Unit Manager or ‘Nurse in Charge’ of the unit.
