Residents and members of the wider community joined together at Nightingale House to enjoy a wonderful book talk from our Copywriter, Amanda Weinberg and her co-author, Silvia Mazzola.
The co-authors explained the real-life history behind the book and the research involved in the writing process, as well as their personal connections to the story. The Lost Secrets of the Italian Post Office depicts an untold perspective of life in Italy under the rule of Mussolini during WWII through the eyes of two young girls. Guests were delighted to discuss the book further with the authors and take home a signed edition to enjoy.
We were visited by a minibus full of guests from Bromley synagogue, with many of them having personal connections to Nightingale House, including family members who used to live here. We were even welcomed by one visitor who will be coming to stay at Nightingale House for respite care in the near future. All of the guests were overjoyed seeing the newly refurbished spaces, such as the Café, where guests enjoyed a selection of delicious bridge rolls, sweet treats, fizz and hot drinks.
