Strengthening the Bridge Between NHS and Social Care in London
We were honoured to welcome Karen Bonner MBE (Chief Nurse for London), Elaine Clancy (Chief Nurse for South West London) and Vi Thomas (Director of Nursing and Quality NHS England) to Nightingale Hammerson to deepen collaboration between NHS services and Social Care.
During this insightful visit, we engaged with team members and residents to explore key topics vital to improving outcomes for people receiving care. Discussions focused on:
✅ The evolving role of Social Care Nursing Advisory Councils (SCNACs)
✅ Strategies for avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions
✅ Strengthening partnerships with London Ambulance Service NHS Trust
✅ Supporting nursing careers in Social Care
✅ Enhancing student placements and links with universities
✅ Promoting research and shared learning between NHS and Social Care
It was a truly energising morning in a sunny London, full of hope and opportunity to build stronger, more integrated health and care systems.
A big thank you to all who are helping create a future where social care and healthcare work seamlessly together.
