Hazel Joseph

I am the Deputy Director of Care for Nightingale Hammerson and the Registered Manager at Hammerson House, Wohl Campus. Having a dual role within the organisation, I have key responsibilities at an operational and strategic level.
However, my main day-to-day responsibility is the overall operational management of Hammerson House, which has a capacity for 116 Residents, providing Nursing, Nursing Dementia, Residential, Residential Dementia, End-of-Life and Palliative Care.
As the Registered Manager, I have an overall insight into the Care Governance within Hammerson House. I have direct managerial responsibility for four managers and indirect management responsibility for approximately 200 staff from various departments.
My role on a strategic level involves working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Trustees, and other stakeholders, reviewing and developing a strategic care governance framework. I also share the responsibility of reviewing and agreeing on service level agreements of external professionals and monitoring their effectiveness within the organisation.
I work closely with the Director of Care and Head of Nursing to ensure both homes are CQC compliant and to retain the Outstanding CQC inspection at Nightingale House 2022 and achieving an overall Good at Hammerson House in May 2022, which was newly commissioned and opened in April 2021.
